Motivation…

“We do our best when our destinations are beyond the “measurement,” when our reach continually exceeds our grasp, when we have immortal finish lines. When we do this, the race is never over. The journey has no port. The adventure never ends because we are always on our way.”

Matthew McConaughey

Dope Thoughts and Words

Charmane’s Blog

I started 2020 with forgotten optimism.  Never being one to do resolutions, I created a digital vision board.  I was moved to a new state for the first time in 25 years. Then the plague hit.  My husband lost his job, our children were struggling as digital learners, and I was struggling with depression. 2021, I want to regain that optimism that I am known for.  I won’t claim my label as a writer, and be productive.

2021 I will mostly write about popular culture in my own unique way.  At 48 (yes, I said it) I am still very much the hip hop head, so I will cover hip hop, movies, books, and current events that effect my community.  So I hope that you are here for ride and contribute by commenting and even sharing my blog if you are moved to do so.  One love, move forward, and never forget your past.

This year in my blog I will not be focusing on any particular topic. I am just going to allow you to have a glimpse of just how random and fun (from my perspective at least) my thoughts are. sometimes it will be seriously emotional, sometimes goofy, occasionally I will tackle social issues but mostly I will just write. I hope you enjoy what you find and return often.

The focus of my blog will be on legacy wealth creation. As a mother and grandmother, the focus on legacy wealth is inevitable. I am a Christian, an active duty Naval Officer, health coach, commercial real estate investor, financial literacy educator, and legacy wealth, planner. From my perspective, the manifestation of wealth extends beyond the financial realm; it is the culmination of spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial abundance that allows you to live a life that is much greater than self. I will use my knowledge and experience to provide information that will help set you, your children, and your children’s children on a course that will have an impact for generations to come.

In 2021, let’s embark on a journey to get ourselves and our families in order.

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” Proverbs 13:22

Listen a year into the pandemic, maybe the last thing you might want to read is something digital-related. I get it, but I meet parents every day who are struggling with raising children with a healthy relationship with their digital devices. Over the next few weeks, I am going to share some tips to keep your preteens and teens safe online.

How did we come to live in this particular type of society? How did this style and structure come to exist? Often, we give little thought to the how or why of it all we just do, we just exist inside the matrix of a society that we had no hand in creating. We all agree on most of the social infrastructure because it’s the story we have been told, it’s how things work, it’s the story of us. For better or worst this is how the world is. We are born into a country, to parents, and usually, a religion that we did not have an opportunity to choose. We don’t get to voice our options about the type of laws or social constructs we want to be raised under.

Some of you may know my story. It is a true tale of two lives. I grew up poor, was in foster care, homeless, became a single teenage mother, was on welfare … I could go on and on. The bottom line is that I had many adversities to overcome.  And yet, today I am an active duty Navy Captain (O6), Commanding Officer, Ph.D., Commercial real Estate Investor, Nonprofit benefactor … I could go on and on.  After hearing a little about my childhood and the things I am doing today, someone asked, “How were you able to do all those things given your childhood and the environment in which you were raised?”   After a little thought, I simply said, “I Didn’t Know I Couldn’t.” … Your mindset is powerful!
