How are YOU doing?

As we enter into week forever of the pandemic, I want to ask “How are you doing?”.

For me I miss my routine.  Early morning workout, getting the kids off to school, work, cooking dinner and relaxing with either a book or television in the evening.  In other words, I missed being busy!  But do I really miss the busy work week or do I miss the predicable norm.

Yes, I know I am blessed, because my biggest complaint is having nothing new to watch and being so bored that I picked up crocheting again.  My children have the needed resources to complete e-class assignments, I am able to work from home and we are able to cover all our household expenses.

Youngest son’s blanket using the Tunisian stitch

One thing I have discovered is Instacart.  This is my second week of using the service that a shopper go to the store, pick up the items on your list.  If you have a good shopper, they will send you pictures of alternatives for items on your list, pack it up and deliver it to your door.  I will have to gain trust for them picking up my produce and meat.  I am not there yet.

I also taught myself the Tunisian crotchet stitch.  I was on YouTube board to death, and somehow came across a Tunisian basic tutorial.  A few weeks ago I taught my daughter the granny square and I knocked out a baby blanket in a couple of days.  Here is a back story.  I have three children, my two oldest have baby blankets.  I taught myself how to knit while making my daughter’s blanket and my 25 year old son still has his blanket.  But baby boy, never got one.  I started one, but when I started, I hated the yarn and never finished.  So now I am making him throw for his bed.

What am I not doing, working out.  I was walking, but when the COVID-19 numbers for the African-American community came out, I stopped.  There is a real fear as an African-American woman with pre-existing conditions, shit got real.  I am new to Georgia and have the basic covered as far as doctors, but they don’t know me like my doctors back in St. Louis.   If you ever read Harriet A Washington’s Medical Apartheid, you will better understand my fear.  But that can be an entire other post.

So again, how are you doing?  What are you doing to past the time?  What do you miss?

I am a wife, mother of three, caseworker, graduate student, PTO President and oh yeah I have a social life AND I am on my weight lost journey. Many of my friends are amazed that I am able to provide a home cook meal at least 6 nights a week. Over the years I have developed my expertise and want to share them with people and hopefully get feedback on how I can improve.
