Survival?

There often comes a moment in the middle of a situation where we know how we should act, the things we should say and what we should be feeling. Yet we don’t actual do or feel any of those things that we should. We go off the rails a bit. Later we are bewildered and don’t know why we acted so out of character.

Don’t Take It Personal

I love reading and as such sometimes I find myself on winding spirals of books. In the middle of reading a book there will often be an amazing quote that the author got from some other author. This will prompt me to look that author up to see if they have other interesting quotes andContinue reading “Don’t Take It Personal”

How to Make a Mutant

Descent with modifications is the idea that offspring will be slightly different from their parents. These differences we now know are due to random mutations and patterns of inheritance. When you hear the word mutation most of us think cancer or some other disaster which is a definite possibility, but mutations can sometimes lead to positive changes. No, unfortunately we are not talking the Marvel movie type of positive changes. We aren’t about to be hanging out with Magneto or Wolverine anytime soon, but if you ever decide to procreate just know you will be producing you very own little mutant.

So, What’s The Plan?

I intend to seriously dig deep and attempt to reveal the soft and vulnerable underbelly of hate. I will do so incorporating a wide variety of fields, disciplines, music, movies, books, and even anime. I want to explore hate on a personal and intimate level. I don’t want it to continue being overlooked and for language to dance around it, denial of hate and ignoring its complexities is, in my opinion, a social catastrophe waiting to happen. To do this effectively I need a plan. The plan is not written in stone, but one does need to move through tough topic with some sort of logic.

What Is Hate?

The love I have for MY; family, friends, community, race, country, etc., justifies any strong emotions and actions taken against an individual or group that I simply believe poses a threat. Therefore, it is not hate, it’s justice! The funny thing about justice in this sense, is that it is completely based on perspective and is totally subjective. Caught in the egocentric wave of hormones and neural activity of “this isn’t supposed to happen to me/us” the individual is rarely interested in understanding the full picture. They don’t care what has happened in the past or to others, all that is relevant is what is happening to them right at this moment or what they perceive could happen if they don’t act.

Why This Why Now?

The virus, the run on stores, the police violence, the riots, the race-baiting, and on and on! It seemed to me that my desire to understand was met with a full-on dump of social chaos for me to sift through. Searching for a logical starting point I chose hate. Hate seems to influence everything in the media and political world. People in the streets appeared to harbor deep and long-lived attachments to hate, passed from generation to generation silently lurking and waiting for an opportunity to have its day in the sunshine. The negativity of it all oozed through my pores and I began to come to the realization that hate has always been and will always be. I wanted to know the source of hate, was there someplace in our very DNA that directed human hatred?
